HALLOWEEN 2004
October 31 - Day 31
HALLOWEEN (finally)
For the record, I'm never doing this theme again. 31 days of torture took it's toll on me. For the first seven or so days it was ok but this not knowing most nights what I was putting out the next day and going into the garage and having to brainstorm not just what to make but how to make it just about did me in. That is one messed up sentence and I'm not even bothering to fix it.
Halloween:
By this morning I still didn't have everything put back out. By the time we opened I did.
I need to mention that I finally accepted help. On Friday, Brenda, Amber, Kari, James, Dennis, Bob and Tristan all helped in one form or the other.
Brenda did what she always does: Everything behind the scenes that makes it all work. I can put props together but without my wife's support this whole thing would never get off the ground. She suffered through many a dinner with me freaking out about not knowing what I was going to build that night. She brainstormed how we'd pull off the donation/raffle for the food bank and set it all up as well as manned it. She makes sure that everyone helping gets fed. Oh yeah, she rounded all the donations up, tallied up the money and votes, printed up the vote results and kept the house running. I'm not sure how she does it all but I'm darned grateful that she does.
The Coffin Jumper
This was one of the two props that Scott from Haunts NW loaned me. He came to visit so we could go license a hearse I sold him and he brought this and the electric chair with him. Must be nice to just have stuff like this laying around extra.
Ten foot tall coffin with a skeleton on a pneumatic frame behind it. When we'd trigger it with the X10 remotes up he'd pop through the coffin and above people's heads. Slow moving but still enough to freak folks out. I had to move my compressor from the garage to power this one though. I didn't really feel like running 300 feet of air hose. Yep, I'm lazy.
Everything else went back out but some of it was put up in a different configuration. After declining to put the Candidates scene from day one back up I decided Saturday that it had to be there again. Great choice it turned out. Comments came from all sides Saturday and Sunday about this one. Other things changed. The Nanny was now running the shredder.
The Wolf was working on eating someone new but this time he had to use the massage table as I was out of platforms.
We added a red light inside the cauldron for the witch.
Chucky was strapped to a chair and he still rocked that sucker all over the place. The photo below shows where we had him on Saturday. On Sunday he got moved next to the electric chair and Satan took that spot in the yard as you'll see below a bit further.
The photo below shows Satan hanging out on the front porch. This was his favorite spot on Friday and Saturday. We kept finding people on the porch taking photos of their family with him. Kind of disturbing. Weirdos.
