October 15
We left the yard today and placed one of last years props in another yard.
Michelle Nurmi was our grand prize winner last year and got her choice of scenes from last years display. Above we see her daughters posing with the scene after we were done setting it up today.
For a five dollar or five can donation last year to the Thurston County Food Bank you got entered in a drawing to win your choice of props from all the things we'd put out during the month. The response was awesome. So much so that we went ahead and gave away five of the twenty-nine scenes and three runner-up scarecrows.
We got to set up the OZ scene just down the street from our house. Located at 3220 Pear St it makes a great addition to their neighborhood.
Even though the rain never let up during the set-up, enthusiastic neighbors came out to see what was going on and to pass on words of encouragement. A few of the neighborhood children, dressed in rain gear, came to voice their opinion. Rain gear, wonder why none of us thought to bring any along. We were drenched by the time we were done.
I beefed up the costumes a bit since last year. Below you'll see what they looked like last year.
